Surviving the Holiday Season
As we approach the holidays, the next month and a half may seem daunting. With another wave of potential shutdowns and COVID-19 cases on the rise, education is being challenged yet again. Here are some tips for surviving the holiday season!

Don’t Procrastinate

Sometimes it seems easier to save tasks for “another day”, but we are all fighting against the clock as we near the holidays. Five weeks will be like the blink of an eye, so tackle projects right away. Even though this holiday season will be filled with smaller gatherings and limitations, doing work should not be a part of your time off. Eliminate that kind of stress by chipping away at tasks now.

Break Up Tasks

Rather than look at the overwhelming amount of work to be done, break projects down into small manageable pieces. These tasks can be broken up into different time frames to space things out. This approach minimizes stress that can easily accumulate from looking at the big picture. They say, “there are never enough hours in the day” but create a schedule to address little chunks of your overall goal to get closer to the finish line.

Be Flexible and Agile

Since future shutdowns would directly impact the hybrid model, plan ahead in anticipation of a potential shift to 100% virtual. Ensure that your lesson plans are flexible enough to withstand a sudden change in setting. Flexibility will allow for effective adaptation, while agility will allow you to act quick and adjust with ease. In order to achieve a seamless transition between in-person and virtual sessions, make sure your platform is secure and has the resources you need available.

Self-Care is a Must!

Even though there are mountains of work to be finished, remember to take care of yourself. Relieve the stress of work by creating a health work-life balance. Remote work can make it seem as though we never really leave work, so make sure you find a way to unplug. Good mental and physical health leads to higher productivity and job satisfaction. Remember to take care of yourself!
